COVID-19 Procedure Changes

We are open during this state of emergency to help you care for your pets. At this time, we need to ensure that our staff remains healthy to care for animals 7 days a week.

Drop-Off/Pickup Procedures

  1. When you arrive, if you do not see us coming, you can call us at (434) 973-4437.
  2. We will come out, confirm all information, and accept your pets.
  3. Once we accept your pet, we will bring them inside the building and spray the leash and collar with a pet-safe disinfectant.
  4. We will wash or sanitize ourselves and come back out for the next customer.
  5. We will call you when your pet is ready. At that time we will inform you of your balance and you can either pay us over the phone at that time (all fees waived) or prewrite a check.
  6. When you pick up, we will bring your pets out to you. If you do not see us coming, please call us at (434) 973-4437.

Effective 1/9/2022, we will be continuing to wait on clients outside. We will be masked. We will continue to conduct kennel tours by appointment and those clients must be masked at all times in the facility, regardless of vaccination status. At this point, our staff will be advised to assume everyone is a potential exposure. We will still gladly talk with you for however long is needed, but you will notice us stepping back and ensuring that distance is kept.

We will re-evaluate our Covid-19 policies on or around February 1, 2022, monthly thereafter. We hope to move towards more normal operations.

*Clients who have tested positive for Covid-19, that need to drop off or pick-up pets, are encouraged to send someone who has not been exposed. If it is not possible, you must inform us by phone so that we can ensure hands-free service. For cats, that means setting the carrier down and stepping back into your car while we come get the carrier. For dogs, it means we will be using the hands-free enclosure outside. Any client that chooses to not inform us of their positive status until the in-person transaction and chooses to risk the health and welfare of the staff here will be served and banned from further service here. We respect your rights, but anyone who purposefully exposes our staff so that they are not inconvenienced by having the virus is not welcome here.

If you are exhibiting any cold- or flu-like symptoms, we reserve the right to reschedule your appointment after a two-week window.

We don't take these inconveniences lightly and certainly want to make sure that we remain your pet partner, but as always safety must be paramount.

We want to ensure everyone's safety, animals and human. Please feel free to ask us any questions. Our policies may change as new updates are released. We are following the releases by the CDC, VDH, and the Thomas Jefferson Health District. Should there be any changes in our situation, we will reach out to you promptly.

We understand that this is an unprecedented situation and it remains fluid. We are dedicated to both your families and ours! It is our goal to be with you through this time. We thank you for your patronage and wish to share our gratitude for being a part of your community!

Thank you for your understanding,

Katie, Creatures Great and Small
